Trump's remark that he didn't have the time to go with the "three different names" of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shows how the (mis-)naming of others can be used as a political tool of marginalization. His words are more than a mere personal attack on Ocasio-Cortez: They imply that Spanish naming practices with their composite family names do not belong in white US-American culture.
