“They Call Me George”. This short radio program discusses the lives and work of black men who worked as Pullman porters providing luxury service on Canadian railways in the early 20thC. They were known as “George’s boys” and eventually they were all called “George,” as their individuality was considered irrelevant. The name George became part of their uniform.
