Another misleading headline by the CBC. Reading it I was all ready to get up in arms at the Quebec government but reading the reasons behind the rules not only do they make sense - he isn't here anymore to either approve or deny being added to the birth certificate - but there's a mechanism in place for this particular scenario. By the sounds of things there won't be any problems getting his name added as the mother wants.

But I guess, "Woman starts procedure to add name of infant's deceased father to birth certificate" wouldn't garner as many clicks, eh? By the way, your sub-headline is factually incorrect. His name is allowed to be added to the birth certificate, it's just not added automatically.

That's like saying that newlyweds are prevented from having their spouses last name on their renewed driver's licenses and that they must fight to change it. No, they just have to fill out forms.
